Councillor John Murray completes his 5 park runs to raise money for the Foundation

Cllr John Murray Raises Money for The James Brindley Foundation

Over the Christmas and New Year’s festive period, Councillor and Governor of Aldridge School, John Murray, along with his wife Jane, ran 25 kilometres (or 15.5 miles!), battling all weathers, to very generously raise money for The James Brindley Foundation. Each of the five organised runs, consisted of 5 kilometres in 5 different parks – even completing runs on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day! What an amazing commitment – Mum and Dad are in awe, because they could only just about walk it!

Aldridge School were invited to support the event, by running a competition for their year 7-9 students, to design an appropriate poster to promote the Challenge. The school received well over 200 entries from the students – making it incredibly difficult to choose a winner! Everyone here at The Foundation, think that the winning posters were exceptionally creative, well done!

Mum and Dad attended the park run on New Year’s Day, to thank John and Jane and of course to wish John a very happy birthday! Dad was particularly disappointed to have not attended all the events, due to his particularly vicious strain of man flu!

Finally, HUGE thanks to both John and Jane for raising funds for The Foundation! If anyone hasn’t yet donated to John’s ‘Just Giving’ page – please do, no matter how small, every pound really does count. The money that is raised will be used to support local children, young people and their families.
